"The
Volkswagen Passat was completely redesigned for 2012. It is larger and
less expensive than the car it replaces, putting it more in line with
American expectations for the midsize sedan class. Suitably, the Passat
is also now built in the United States. Although its lower price
includes some lower-quality materials and a less sophisticated base
engine, this Passat is nevertheless one of the top choices in the class.
Despite
its Made in America label, the current Passat still boasts many of the
qualities that have drawn folks to German cars in the first place. The
well-controlled, buttoned-down ride quality is one, while its
restrained exterior styling is another. The cabin, though not quite as
special as that of VW's CC or the old Passat, is still one of the nicer
environments to be found in the class. It's also one of the most
spacious."
